Match Report
Hmmmm. Last week brought optimism. At half-time this week it persisted. But apparently playing against the wind and into the sun is all too much. But there is an easy explanation. As a team in the EU we were magnificent. Then small-minded xenophobic petty racist Farage came along and we were reduced to little-Englander half baked don’t like it up them losers. Cut off from mainland sunny Europe, we are but nothing.
We started so well. Gorton and Finnegan provided great hope down the left, and even Killen hobbling off didn’t dent confidence. Bodey hit the bar with a tackle. Actually did. When Eddie Jones drilled home the opener, it was the least we deserved. It should have been more. Crutchley headed just wide from a delightful Finnegan cross. Other chances came and went. But a secure lead endured.
Not much was said at half-time. Things were going well.
Five minutes later, blinded by the light, we were 2-1 down. But Finnegan wasn’t taking it lying down. 2-2 and all to play for.
Then they scored 5 and we lost 7-2.
