Match Report
This was cruel.
As the Sealand Cup campaign began there was a new determination to secure the first win of 2018, a smaller squad lined up against a 20-strong St Anne’s team who were providing new opposition for the Ramblers. The squad was even smaller because of the late cry-offs from Byrne (Ladies’ Day hangover) and Clay (birthday squits). The opposition turned out to be a decent bunch too, and the Bebington Oval on a sunny April afternoon was the perfect backdrop.
The first half was evenly fought although without a great deal of incident, chances being few and far between. Midway into the second half the Ramblers had two chances to take the led, both falling to Lewis. The first was a free kick which seemed destined for the net before it was miraculously headed off the line without the need for concussion treatment; the second saw him shoot just wide when he probably had a little more time than he thought.
Then … 5 minutes to go … the winner. Or for us, the loser. Darn it.
