Match Report
The late cry-off on the way back from the chemists on Saturday morning by CRL Shepherd had an inevitable effect on morale in the build up to this match, hard to say whether it was a bad or good effect, mind you. Perhaps more important was the fact that in the last 6 games against Halkyn, the stats are P6, L6, F4, A32. Somehow, though, none of that really mattered as in a very competitive first half, had the Ramblers converted their chances, we would have been ahead by the break. As it was, the new nets remained relatively unsullied, and when Manny finally got the ball on the edge of our penalty area, he managed to beat no less than 3 tackles and made no mistake when he had the chance.
All did not seem lost at half-time, and as ever the need to concentrate early in the second half was emphasised. Five minutes in to the second half the score was 3-0 with no apparent way back. True it is that there were some lucky breaks amongst the Halkyn goals, but this was a game which could have gone either way for much of the first half but fizzled away in the second.
Large squads for both teams saw a busy clubhouse afterwards but still no sales for McNay’s savouries behind the bar. If anyone would like to post a positive review, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to rustle up some business.
