Match Report
Debuts from Louis Mason & Jacob Toolan in a spirited performance by a very young team against a good Willaston Vets side. Ramblers went ahead and some last minute tackles and poor finishing meant it was only 1-1 at halftime.
There was a cardable late tackle on Lou Baylis in the first half as he cleared the ball for a throw in which the Willaston player apologies for and only after everyone had retreated for did the referee then insist he’d given a corner (Willaston showed good sportsmanship and played it back to our keeper). It is fair to say that the game would have been better without a referee and just one sub running the offside line, so it was a struggle in the 2nd half when a couple of goals were conceded to very obvious offsides.
Still, the best team won – 3-1 would have been a fair result, but the spirit shown by this young Ramblers side (four under 16’s playing) is really encouraging for the future.
