The 2017 Schoolboys Fixture was a great success this year. A Ramblers XI opened up proceedings with a tough battle against Willaston Wolves, who played some neat attacking football and showed great endeavour. The Ramblers just edged home 3-0, with goals from McGuckin, Gendal and Tom Reade. This game may well have brought about a club record, with three brothers (Tom, Patrick and Joe Reade) lining up together. They then played a Crosby Collective XI (with a Salopian for good measure and quickly went 2-0 down and look done for; but Mornington scored twice to leave the game at 2-2. The Crosbyites then took on Willaston in a tight match, but won the tournament with a 4-0 victory, Power Junior making a vital save at the end to claim the trophy (there wasn’t one) on goal difference.

Meanwhile, at a nearby Thornton Astro, the Lads beat the Dads in a dramatic end to end game, scoring with the last kick of the match to make it 13-12.
